There were four children who always tried to find ways to play a trick on Nasreddin , but they always failed . That afternoon they wanted to try again .

They knew that road usually Nasreddin went by the road at about four o'clock . So by that time they had been there waiting for Nasreddin . When they heard the sound of the donkey's hoofs coming nearer , the boys started distributing duties among them.

Mahmoud quickly climbed the tree beside them , with a kite hung on his left shoulder .
"There !!! Just put it there , he's quite near !!!" said one of his friends beneath him .

Then Mahmoud tied up his kite to the branch nearest to his right hand . After that he quickly climbed down .

Nasreddin felt sorry for them and prepared to climb . He took off his shoes . But at the same time he heard one of the boys giggle and whisper something . He did not hear it clearly . He thought that the children would play a trick on him again .

"Come on , Uncle Nasreddin !" said one of them .

Nasreddin took his shoes and inserted them into the big pocket of his old baggy trousers .
"But , people usually don't bring their shoes when they climb a tree , Uncle Nasreddin !" shouted two of them .

Nasreddin looked down and smiled , "I'm ready in case there is a road in the sky."
